As director of communications for Calcot, Mark Bagby develops and directs the cotton marketing cooperative’s internal and external communications programs, including all publications, media relations, audio-visual production, tour groups and Web sites.
His background and expertise in technical matters, from photography to computers to Web design make him an excellent presenter in various capacities. But in his other career, two hours of makeup and years of research transform him into America’s classic humorist, Mark Twain, for a one-man show, “Greatly Exaggerated - The Wit and Wisdom of Mark Twain.”
A lifelong career in theatre and a love for the literature, humor and wisdom of Mark Twain led him to explore the possibilities of creating the fabled author in the flesh. Today, Bagby’s Twain is highly sought after as a banquet and motivational speaker.
Bagby is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Arts in journalism. He has extensive experience in all aspects of communications and is an award-winning photographer, writer and filmmaker. He joined Calcot in 1993 after five years as an award-winning public information officer for one of California’s largest public school districts.
Bagby’s work on the Calcot News magazine, the Cotton Capsules newsletter, the monthly member publication re:Source, audio-visual programs, video and advertising have been honored with high finishes in CCA competition. He has written articles for CCA News on publishing and presentation software and other technical matters, served as CCA’s special projects competition chairman, served on CCA’s board of directors for six years, including stints as secretary, vice-president and president.
